PreK Registration Process


Registration for 2017-2018 school year begins January 30. Priority registration for returning families begins January 9 - January 20.

Registration Process 

 

2016-2017 academic year: Applications for the current school year are currently being accepted.

2017-2018 academic year: Applications will be accepted (entered into the lottery) from:

  • January 30 – February 17, 2017: school days only from 9:30AM – 2:30PM at the Bresnahan School PreK-K Office (Door #2) (Priority registration for returning families is January 9, 2017 - January 20, 2017.)

  • Or may be scanned and emailed to lmorasse@newburyport.k12.ma.us or gphillips@newburyport.k12.ma.us

  • Or may be mailed to the school

     

Returning students who are currently enrolled in one of the Bresnahan School preschool programs this year and entering their second year of preschool will be granted priority enrollment.  Siblings of current and former students who have attended the Brown or Bresnahan School preschool programs will also be granted priority enrollment. Priority enrollment is between Monday, January 9, 2017 through Friday, January 20, 2017 only

On Monday, January 30th we will accept applications for all new students.   A preschool lottery will be held on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 to determine if your child is accepted into one of our programs. If there are more applicants than slots available, a waiting list will be formed.

Only complete applications will be accepted. The following documents are required to obtain a lottery number:

  1. $300.00 Registration fee, check or money order made payable to the Newburyport Public Schools (no cash or credit accepted)

  2. Preschool Application Form  

  3. Newburyport Public Schools Enrollment Form

  4. Confidential Health Form

  5. Certification of Address Form

  6. Home Language Survey  (English version)*

  7. Parent Questionnaire

* For the Home Language Survey in a language other than English, please contact the office at (978) 465-4435.

Please make copies of each of the following before submitting your application. 

  1. Your child’s birth certificate

  2. Your child’s most recent health record including lead test, immunization and physical (or MA Health Form)

  3. Proof of Newburyport Residency (must be one of the following: utility bill, ex: water bill, electricity bill, cable bill, mortgage/lease agreement)

Upon receipt of a complete application you will receive a lottery number and your child will be entered into the preschool lottery which will be drawn on March 1, 2017 at 9:00 AM at the Superintendent’s Office-70 Low St, Newburyport. The public is welcome to attend the lottery. Lottery results will be posted online no later than March 3, 2017.  Notification of your child’s application status will be mailed home in early-mid March.
