The Francis T. Bresnahan School offers Kindergarten programs that are designed to meet the educational needs of early childhood learners. Our kindergarten provides a comprehensive introduction to both the academic and social aspects of school which lay the foundation for a child’s educational career. The curriculum is aligned with the Common Core standards to teach early literacy skills and foundational mathematical concepts. Our educational philosophy is predicated on the belief that all children have individual differences which are best met through high quality teaching and differentiated instruction. We have structured our classrooms to ensure a variety of learning experiences that include small group and large group activities, opportunities for playing, singing and creating while exposing children to the necessary skills to build upon throughout their elementary years.
Program offerings will include a full day Kindergarten program in session from 8:20 a.m. to 2:50 p.m. which includes opportunities for extended learning blocks and socialization during lunch and recess periods. The full day Kindergarten program is tuition-based. We also offer a half day kindergarten program that is in session for three hours and ten minutes and meets in the morning from 8:20 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. The half day students are dismissed at lunch and do not participate in specialist periods at the end of the day. Enrollment in the half-day program is open to all Newburyport residents.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, our Kindergarten program looks different for the 2020-2021 academic year..
